Other Sheep is a worldwide Christian ministry dedicated to partnering with and advocating for the LGBTQ+ community. We bring the good news of God’s unconditional love for all including the sexual minorities to the church, especially in regions where acceptance is scarce. Through resources, mentorship, and global networking, we work to overcome religious prejudice and build a more inclusive and just world.
Our Mission
Other Sheep – Multicultural Ministries with Sexual Minorities is an innovative worldwide ecumenical Christian organization dedicated to partnering with and advocating for sexual minorities throughout the world with the Good News of God’s unconditional love for all and salvation through God’s Son, Jesus Christ. With other LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender, queer) activists, we recognize that religious ideologies and fundamentalism constitute a major obstacle to justice for all people.
OUR FOCUS
Other Sheep is particularly, although not exclusively, serving in areas where acceptance and access is limited. We do this by:
Sharing the good news that God loves all people and calls us into inclusive communities
Providing materials and support that builds self-esteem and wholeness, capacity to love and the freedom to participate fully in religious and community life
Networking with and equipping those who seek to challenge existing prejudices and
discriminatory practices, especially in the areas of theological and pastoral training, and the intersection with human and civil rights.
OUR DIRECTIVES
We direct ourselves:
1. To the sexually diverse populations who suffer prejudice, marginalization and a sense of inferiority, if not outright rejection, from some faith communities because attitudes, which they have internalized. As a result, many sexual minorities reject not only churches, but God as well, whom they see as the cause of injustice.
2. To some faith communities which, because of homophobic sexual ideologies and pastoral policies, harm the spiritual well- being and deny the human and civil rights of sexual minorities.
